The composition of ETFE film is ethylene tetrafluoroethylene copolymer, which is a transparent thin film material without fabric substrate, with an elongation rate of up to 420% to 440%. The transmittance spectrum of ETFE film material is similar to that of glass (commonly known as soft glass). ETFE membranes are divided into thicknesses of 50, 80, 100, 150, and 200 μ m.
ETFE film is suitable for building roofs or walls in building spaces that require sufficient indoor sunlight. ETFE membrane materials allow for significant elastic deformation, but creep elongation may occur, making them unsuitable for membrane surfaces in space membrane structural systems with resistance requirements.
ETFE film is lightweight and has excellent light transmission performance, with a weight of about 1/100 of the same size glass panel. It can be used for building roofs and walls that require light transmission.
Selection points for ETFE membrane:
1) The transmittance spectra of ETFE film material and glass are basically the same, with high ultraviolet transmittance and visible light transmittance>95%. By printing a light shielding film on the surface and changing the thickness of the film, the transmittance of light and ultraviolet rays can be controlled between 50% and 96%.
2) The allowable temperature for long-term use is -200~150 ℃.
3) When the melting point is reached in a fire environment, a melting hole will appear, and the boundary of the melting hole will burn and spread, but no open flame or dripping will be produced. According to China's GB8624 "Classification Method for Combustion Performance of Building Materials", it is classified as B1 level flame retardant material.
4) When ETFE film material is made into an air coated surface with an air insulation layer, it has good insulation performance.
5) ETFE membrane materials have good chemical stability and corrosion resistance.
6) The ultimate tensile strength of ETFE membrane material is above 40MPa. When it is below 20MPa, the membrane material is in an elastic state, allowing for folding and has good tear resistance.
7) Excellent weather resistance. Long term exposure tests have shown that its mechanical properties have not changed.
8) The quality assurance period of ETFE membrane material manufacturers is 10 years, and the actual service life can exceed 20 years.
9) The membrane surface is smooth, resistant to dust and stains, and has good self-cleaning properties in rainwater. In addition, the surface of the film has good toughness against hail impact.
10) After the ETFE membrane material exceeds its service life, it can be recycled, reassembled, or melted into granular raw materials.
