PVDF membrane, also known as polyvinylidene fluoride membrane, is a commonly used solid-phase support in Western blotting. PVDF membrane is hydrophobic, with varying pore sizes. As the pore size of the membrane decreases, the membrane becomes more firmly bound to low molecular weight proteins. Proteins larger than 20000 should use a 0.45um membrane, while proteins smaller than 20000 should use a 0.2um membrane. PVDF membranes require pretreatment during use. The purpose of treating with methanol is to activate the positively charged groups on the membrane, making it easier for them to bind with negatively charged proteins. PVDF membrane has high mechanical strength and is an ideal solid support material in imprinting method.
Material characteristics:
The membrane material used in membrane structure buildings is a type of thin film material with good strength and flexibility. It is woven from fibers into a fabric substrate and fixed on both sides of the substrate with resin coating material. The central fabric substrate is divided into polyester fiber and glass fiber. In terms of mechanics, the fabric substrate and coating material have the following functional properties.
The fabric substrate has tensile strength, tear resistance, heat resistance, durability, and fire resistance.
The coating material has weather resistance, stain resistance, water resistance, and transparency.
PVDF film material has the advantages of high thermal flexibility, low risk of rupture, high cost-effectiveness, short production cycle, and fast construction speed. In recent years, with continuous improvements in technology and materials, its weather resistance and anti fouling properties have been further improved. PVDF membrane materials with high self-cleaning properties can last for more than 15 years, and are currently the most widely used membrane materials in China.
